Residents and Non-Residents alike will find ample recreation possibilities in and around the City of Litchfield, which is located in the northwest corner of Hillsdale County, at the crossroads of two State Highways, M-99 and M-49.  The beautiful Saint Joseph River flows through the community, offering fishing, canoeing and picturesque views.

For summer recreation there is a City owned swimming pool, with pavilions for reunions or parties. Reservations are required for the use of these pavilions, and they can be reserved by contacting the City Office. Just northwest of the city on M-99 is Jenkins Golf Course.

POOL:  Season Passes can be purchased for the City Pool.  2010 Rates are $40 for a Single Pass, $50 for a Dual Pass, $75 for a Family Pass (Per Household), and $75 for a Grandparents Pass (Grandparents and all Grandchildren)  Daily Admission fee is $3.00 per person.  Pool Hours for 2010 are Sunday through Saturday- 2:00 to 8:00 PM.  Call the City Office for more information on the Pool.  Swimming Lessons are also offered at $40 per enrollee.  Swimming Lessons will be July 5th - 16th, 2010 and July 26th to August 6th, 2010.  Cost is $30 for infants and toddlers and $45 for Level 1 through 6.  Call Michelle at 517 617-3941 to schedule lessons.

In late summer is the annual Sweet Corn Days Festival, which is the second weekend in August. Free sweet corn is provided both Friday and Saturday, along with activities, such as tractor pulls, a parade, car show, pancake breakfast, treasure hunt, volleyball tournament, games and many food vendors. In the past there have been mud drags and a rodeo as the main events of this festival.  The Festival has been held in the Industrial Park in the past, but was successfully held in downtown Litchfield area.  Sweet Corn Days  will be centered around the High School area on the 21st and 22nd of August, 2009 due to the downtown Streetscape Project.

Located just south of downtown Litchfield on M-49 is Firemen's Park, which is located on the Saint Joseph River. Firemen's Park features a pavilion and a gazebo for family reunions or parties, plus a playground, shuffleboard courts, volleyball and basketball courts. A small fishing pond with a handicapped accessible dock is located near the first stage of the City nature/bicycling trail.  The second stage of the trail has recently been completed, connecting Memorial Mile Park on M-99, one mile southeast of Litchfield, to M-99 on the north side of Litchfield, near the Litchfield Thriftway Grocery Store and Friendship and Riverside Apartments.

There is a Halloween costume-judging contest sponsored by the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce following Trick or Treating each year.

December is the annual Christmas Celebration with Santa, caroling, and a park lighting ceremony at the Downtown Park.  There will also be a lighting contest, with a separate category for homes and businesses.
